DataTalks.Club and Learning In Public

The first item on the proposed AI engineering self study course is data engineering offered by DataTalks.Club . The data engineering live cohort actually starts in January. Available now are the lesson recordings and the homework; but the certificate is not available unless you successfully submit the final project during the live cohort.

The DataTalks.Club live cohort that begins Monday is the AI Dev Tools Zoomcamp: AI-Native Software Engineering (https://github.com/DataTalksClub/ai-dev-tools-zoomcamp). I am registered for this. I expect it will improve and add structure to the work I am doing with Claude Code somewhere between a little bit and a lot. Additionally, we will build our own agents and cover end-to-end app development and deployment leveraging AI.

The Data Engineering Zoomcamp, which starts in January, will cover data tools like Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Terraform, which are tools I have been wanting to dive into.

Often what you get most out of a well designed course is not what is written on the tin, but the little bits of seasoning which, practically speaking, are the best practices on which the instructor insists. In the case of DataTalks.Club , it looks like it will be what Alexey Grigorev calls, "Learning in Public". I know that learning in public has been something that I have been very hesitant to do, but now that is set to change.
